There are all together 10 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Nepal. Two are in cultural category and two are in natural category. The Cultural Heritage Site of Nepal are LUMBINI, the birth place of Lord Buddha and seven monuments can be found with in the 20 km radius of Kathmandu valley together counted as one Heritage Site.
Similarly, The Natural Heritage Sites are CHITWAN & EVEREST (SAGARMATHA) National Park located at outside the valley. The Kathmandu valley World Heritage Site comprises of three historical places - KATHMANDU, PATAN & BHAKTAPUR Durbar Square, two Hindu temples - PASHUPATINATH & CHANGU NARAYAN Temple
. Likewise, two mix Hindu and Buddhist culture heritage site are SWYAMBHUNATH & BOUDHANATH Stupas. Kathmandu Durbar Square "UNESCO World Heritage Site" also known as Hanuman Dhoka square is one of the major attractions in Kathmandu Valley. Most of the cultural centers of Nepal are concentrated around the Kathmandu valley; among those cultural sites, the important one is the Hanuman-dhoka Durbar Square. The name Hanuman-dhoka Durbar came from the statue of Hanuman established by the King Pratap Malla at the entrance of the royal palace in 1672 A.D. stored residence built by King Prithvi Narayan shah in 1770,is called Basantapur Durbar (palace). The whole complex is also known as Kathmandu Durbar Square.

Patan Durbar Square is the main attraction of the Lalitpur district. Known as Yala amoung Newari Language, the city is also called the city of wooden crafts and handicrafts. Ancient shrines, museum, Krishna temple, Suvarnadwar, Devasthal and various small and big temple scattered in and around the square are some of the attractions. It has a round path at the bottom while another path is made of three tier plinth. The stupa resembles Swayambhunath stupa to some extent. The most impressive part of the stupa is the eyes of the Buddha which are painted with red, white and blue colors. The Buddhist stupa of Boudhanath dominates the skyline. As of 1979, Boudhanth is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the most popular tourist sites in the Kathmandu.
