There are all together 10 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Nepal. Two are in cultural category and two are in natural category. The Cultural Heritage Site of Nepal are LUMBINI, the birth place of Lord Buddha and seven monuments can be found with in the 20 km radius of Kathmandu valley together counted as one Heritage Site. Similarly, The Natural Heritage Sites are CHITWAN & EVEREST (SAGARMATHA) National Park located at outside the valley. The Kathmandu valley World Heritage Site comprises of three historical places - KATHMANDU, PATAN & BHAKTAPUR Durbar Square, two Hindu temples - PASHUPATINATH & CHANGU NARAYAN Temple. Kathmandu Durbar Square "UNESCO World Heritage Site" also known as Hanuman Dhoka square is one of the major attractions in Kathmandu Valley. Most of the cultural centers of Nepal are concentrated around the Kathmandu valley; among those cultural sites, the important one is the Hanuman-dhoka Durbar Square. The name Hanuman-dhoka Durbar came from the statue of Hanuman established by the King Pratap Malla at the entrance of the royal palace in 1672 A.D. stored residence built by King Prithvi Narayan shah in 1770,is called Basantapur Durbar (palace). The whole complex is also known as Kathmandu Durbar Square.

Patan Durbar Square is the main attraction of the Lalitpur district. Known as Yala amoung Newari Language, the city is also called the city of wooden crafts and handicrafts. The palace has earned distinction being the home of finest crafts. Ancient shrines, museum, Krishna temple, Suvarnadwar, Devasthal and various small and big temple scattered in and around the square are some of the attractions. Changunarayan Temple often described as the most ancient temple of Nepal. Changu Narayan Temple lies 20 km eastward from Kathmandu and 8 km northward from Dudhpati of Bhaktapur. This ancient temple dedicated to Hindu god Vishnu is one of the most important temple of Nepal. Lumbini in western Rupandehi is one of the best destinations in the country. The world knows Lumbini as the birthplace of Gautama Buddha. Tourists from all over the world come to see the birthplace of the Buddha. It is also a place of worship for Buddhists.
In Lumbini you can visit 25 Buddhist monasteries. These Buddhist monasteries have been built by different countries. BOUDHANATH STUPA
The ancient and one of the largest stupas in the world, Boudhanath or the Khasa Chaitya is one of the holiest Buddhist sites in Kathmandu, Nepal. Located about 11 km from the center and northeastern outskirts of Kathmandu, the stupa's massive mandala makes it one of the largest spherical stupas in Nepal.
With diameter of about 100m and 40m height, Boudhanath holds its place among the ancients and one of the largest stupas in the world. The Boudhanath stupa covers a vast area. It has a round path at the bottom while another path is made of three tier plinth. The stupa resembles Swayambhunath stupa to some extent. The most impressive part of the stupa is the eyes of the Buddha which are painted with red, white and blue colors. The Buddhist stupa of Boudhanath dominates the skyline. As of 1979, Boudhanth is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the most popular tourist sites in the Kathmandu.
