Welcome to
Sikkim - Tranquility Supreme:
The enchanting little state of
Sikkim lies in the eastern end of the mighty Himalayas flanked
by Bhutan, Nepal and Tibet on it's east, west and northern
borders respectively.
Sikkim lies nestled under the protective shadow of its guardian
deity, Mount Knachenjunga (8598m). the third highest mountain in
the world. Conveniently accessible by rail air and road, this
little Himalayan jewel is fast becoming a favorite gateway for
tourists in recent years.
The area of Sikkim is 7,096 sq. kms and measures approximately
about 110 kms from north to south and about 64 kms for the east
to the west. The elevation ranges from 224 mts to over 8590m
about sea-level which gives Sikkim it's incomparably range of
flora and fauna the majestic mountain peaks, the dense foothill
forests, the frothing rivers and the lush paddy fields make this
22nd state of India a hotbed of bio-diversity not found anywhere

WEST
DISTRICT - SIKKIM - Thrills and Spills, White Water And
Treks |
|
While
the district Headquarters are at
Geyzing. the real adventure begins
from Yuksom, Uttarey and Soreng
which serve as the base camp for
unforgettable treks into the wilds
of the mountains. These high
altiture alpine treks take you
through fairy tale landscapes and
lush rhododendron forests to heights
of about 13,200 feet at Dzongri.
For the
more experienced trekker or
mountaineer, trips can be made up to
Goe chela at a height of 18,000 feet
and at the foot of the Mount
Kanchenjunga.
All
necessary trekking and camping
equipment is available on hire at
the various Travel Agents at Gangtok
for nominal rates. Visit the Serene
Khecheopalri Lake, considered to be
one of the most sacred akes in
Sikkim. Many believe it to be a
Wish-fulfilling lake. |

PEMAYANGTSE MONASTERY |
The
Pemayangtse Monastery is one of
permier institutions of Sikkim
housing the incredible Sangtho Palri,
a wooden carving depicting the
various realms of Buddhism.
Visit Varsey and let your senses
swoon with the heady riot of
rhododendrons that brings the
mountain slopes alive in Springtie
or lake in the panoramic views of
the majestic Eastern Himalayan range
from Soreng and Kaluk Rinchenpong.

YUMA
SAMYO mANGKHIM |
The
Temple where the Limboos, the
believers of Yuma Samyo religious
worship, is called Mangkhim. There
is one beautiful Mangkhim at Martam,
West Sikkim under Hee-Bermiok
constituency. It is constructed at a
side below the flat stone mond where
Teyongsi Sirijunga used to give
teachings of Sirijunga Scripts and
Yuma Samyo Sermons.
About
an hour's steep downward woalk from
the Yuma Samyo Mangkhim are the
Sirijunga Falls , Sirijunga Cave and
the mysterious box, all located in
the vicinity of each other situated
at the conflunce of Kalaj and Reshi

WHITE
WATER RAFTING |
The
white waters of the Teesta and
Rangit offer an experience not to be
missed by the adventure enthusiast.
The thrill of riding the wild rapids
and the rush of adrenalin through
your body is a feeling hard to
deplicate. The roller coaster ride
over the frothing while water of the
Teesta will leave you breathless and
hungry for more or if you want to
pit your skills as a river rafter
against the current, try the more
demanding Kayaking experience. Come
and explore the daredevil in you.

Accommodation on twin sharing basis
as per Tour category (standard/Deluxe), full board meals, Ground
transfers. Sightseeing as per Itinerary with English speaking
guide, Entrance fees and permits.
On Treks Camping Equipment consisting of Two men-tent &
mattress, Freshly cooked meals, Dinning & Toilet tents, Ponies
and trek staffs. A minimum of 2 person is required for obtaining
permit to trek in Sikkim. |

GETTING THERE:
Fly from Kathmandu to Biratnagar /Bhadrapur (Nepal) and transfer
by road or fly from Delhi /Calcutta to Bagdogra (India) and
transfer by road. The other option would be to arrive by train
from any part of India to New Jalpaiguri. |

Mid February to late May and Mid September to late December. |

During Summer-light jackets & rain gears. In winter-down gears
at high altitude. |

ENTRY FORMALITIES:
All foreigners intending to visit Sikkim has to avail of an
Indian visa which can be obtained at any Indian Embassy or
Mission abroad. The inner state permit which is also a must can
be obtained along with the visa. |
