 Rara Lake Trek

Rara Lake one of the best destinations for trekking in western Nepal .This area is surrounded by Rara National park. It is the largest lake in Nepal surrounded by Rara National Park. The route is well off the beaten track and affords glimpses of culture and scenery very different from other parts of Nepal. The trek offers a dramatic display of clear high altitude lakes mingled with pine, spruce and juniper forests as well as breath taking views of the snow capped Himalayan peaks.

Rara Lake is as deep as 167 meters in some places, and drains into the river Mugu Karnali via Nijar Khola. The Rara National Park is the home of endangered red panda, common langur, and rhesus macaque. Rhododendron, juniper, oak, spruce and Cyprus are the rich vegetations of this area.

Jumla, one of the highest rice- growing areas in Nepal is located on the banks of the Tila Khola at the height of 2370 meters. The most common way to get to Rara is to take a flight from Nepalgunj to Jumla.

Brightly painted wooden boats and sailboats can be rented on reasonable cost around lakeside. The lake is neither deep (roughly 47 meters at most) nor particularly clean, but the water is warm and swimming is pleasant if you don't think about the probable pollution. The eastern shoreline of the lake, popularly known as Lakeside or Baidam, consists of seemingly endless strip of lodges, restaurants, bookshops and souvenir shops. One of the fascinating parts of lakeside is the splendid view of the mountains, especially when the still water reflects the peaks, creating a double image.

Early morning, Drive to Kathmandu by regular tourist coach. Overnight at hotel.
