Everest Classic Trek

A trek which takes you into the heart of the mountains and the culture of the Everest region to the foot of the great peak itself. Drive Jiri and commencing trek from Jiri and it takes about 7 days to Sherpa capital of Namche Bazar. A day is spent here for acclimatization and just soaking up the atmosphere of this bustling village before heading on up through Tenboche (Visiting the great monastery) Pheriche, Lobuche village and finally to your highest camp at Gorak Shep. This is the jumping off point for the climb up to Kala Pattar (5545m) for spectacular views of Mt. Everest, and the walk in to Everest Base Camp. This really is breathtaking mountain scenery and is well worth the effort of getting there. It is a relatively short trek which will have you standing literally at the foot of the world's greatest peak.

Itinerary:

Day 1. Arrival
Arrival Kathmandu and transfer to hotel. Overnight.

Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing
Kathmandu Sightseeing and prepare for trekking permit. Overnight.

Day 3: Kathmandu - Jiri (187 kms)
Drive early morning to Jiri approx. 11 hours. Rest of the day leisure for your own. Overnight at Lodge.

Day 4: Jiri - Deurali
Climbing diagonally towards the Mali about 1:30 hrs and descend to Shivalaya about 1:30 hrs. Then diagonally up to Deurali (3000m) about 3 hrs.

Day 5: Deurali - Sete
From Deurali, straight down to Thado Khola and cross the suspesion bridge and walk through the river valley to Kinja. Then diagonally to to sete.

Day 6: Sete - Junbesi
Start climbing to Lamjura pass (3,500m). which is the first viewpoint to Everest and descend to Junbesi about 3 hrs. We can see good views of Gaurishanker, Nambur Himal and Dudh Kunda.

Day 7: Junbesi - Nunthala
From here we walk up a stunting trail about 2 hrs to Solung. The descend to Ringmo Khola and up to Taksindo Pass. Then descend to Nunthala.

Day 8: Nunthala - Khari Khola
From Nunthala the descent continues to Dudh Koshi (Milk River) the largest river met since the Sun Koshi. Then ascend to Khari Khola. Walk through several Shepa villages, traced fields and forest.

Day 9: Khari Khola - Puiyan
Ascent towards Puiyan through a Sherpa village and a forest inhabited by money and then through a canyon.

Day 10: Puiyan - Phakding
The trail climbs up for about an hour after Puiyan to a ridge at 2800m then up to another ridge. First we decend to Surke from Puiyan, on a small tributary stream of the Dudh Koshi and climb for 15 minutes to a junction where a stone staircase leads of to the right to the Lukla airport. However it is not necessary to go there, so we climb toward to Phakding.

Day 11: Phakding - Namche Bazar
Beginning with a slight climb to Jorsale we pass a waterfall and along this part of the trail villages are interspersed with magnificent forest - Rhododendron, Magnolia, crossing a few bridges and a climb of several hundred meters. a steep descent and another steep climb through the forest.

Day 12: Namche Bazar Rest (3440m)
Acclimatization is most important before proceeding to a higher elevation. You can spend a day taking a day hike to Thame, Khude or relaxing and exploring Namche Bazar, a Sherpa community.

Day 13: Namche Bazar - Tengboche
From Namche a steep one hour climb to Syangboche (3720m) provides excellent views of "EVEREST 8848m" and Ama Dablam. From there we descend to Punki Thanka via Khumjung, then the trail climbs steeply at first and makes a gradual ascent through forest and around many stones as it follows the side of the hill up to the saddle on which Tengboche Monastery sits at (3870m) There is a clearing surrounded by dwarf fir and rhododendron and the best views can be seen from here. Kwangde (6187m) Twache (6542m) Everest (8848m) Nuptse (7855m) Lotse 8616m) ama Dablam (6856m) Thamserku (6608m) provide an inspiring panorama of Himalayan giants. We visit the largest Monastery at Tengboche in Khumbu region.

Day 14: Namche Bazar - Tengboche

Day 15: Tengboche - Pheriche
It is short step and a muddy descent to Devche through a forest of birches, conifers and rhododendrons. Then cross the bridge and ascend to Pangvoche through the forest and magniticently carved mani stones to Pangboche at (3860m). The the route enters alpine meadows above the trekk line, through Dingboche to Pheriche at (4240m)

Day 16: Pheriche - Lobuche
The trail ascends the broad, gently sloping valley and climbs steeply into the terminal moraine of the Khumbu glaciers the crosses the bridge and climbs higher on the Morani to a row of stone monuments in memory of six Sherpas whi died in an avalanche at Locuche at (4930m).

Day 17: Lobuche - Gorakshep
The trail from Lobuche follows the muide. a geographer's name for the trough at the edge of the glaciers lateral moraine. A tributary glacier has piled another moraine across the trail which has to be crossed. Giving a good view of Pumori.

Day 18: Gorakshep - Kala Pattar
Early in morning rise up to Kala Pattar (5545m) Seen fantastic on Everest Ice fall, Nuptse and Mt. pumori and return to Gorak Shep.

Day 19: Gorakshep -  Everest Base Camp - Lobuche
Go up the long with the foot of the Everest Base Camp. Explore BC and return back to Lobuche.

Day 20: Lobouche - Dingboche -
Walk down towards the Dingboche and visit Chukhung Valley. Overnight at Dingboche

Day 21: Dingboche - Tengboche -
Return back Tengboche via Pangboche.

Day 22: Tengboche - Khumjung -
Visit monastery and trek descend towards to Khumjung village.

Day 23: Khumjung - Manjo
Trek down until cross the Namche Bazar and walk until Manjo

Day 24: Manjo - Lukla -
Trek down to Lukla

Day 25: Lukla - Kathmandu -
Early morning flight to Kathmandu. Service End.
