Guge Kingdom Tour - West Tibet |

The Guge Kingdom was founded
in the tenth century by a descendant of the King Lang Darma,who
fled from Lhasa after the collapse of the Tubo Kingdom. The Guge
Kingdom survived about 700 years and disappeared mysteriously in
the 17th century.The Guge ruins lie at a hill top near a river
and cover 180,000 square meters.Houses,cave dwellings,
monasteries and stupas are distributed on the hill and
surrounding areas.There are palaces set on the sumit and
monasteries on the mountain side.The kingdom was enclosed by
walls and also had many tunnels.Some of the structures remain in
good condition at this time.The Guge Kingdom is famous for its
murals.Sculptures and stone inscriptions can also be found on
the surviving structures.The White palace,Red palace,Yamantaka
Chapel,Tara Chapel and Mandala Chapel all still exist in good
condition.

Tour Itinerary: |

Day 01 KATHMANDU-NYALAM
(2220M):
This is the first day of the Yatra. About early morning,
hotel staff will provide you breakfast around 05.30. We
depart from Kathmandu to China border by tourist coach. It
takes about 05 hours. Our tour guide will complete our
custom formalities and check into TIBET. (An autonomous part
of China) where our Tibet counter partner will accompanied
you received for further tour. After lunch, we drive to a
small Tibetan town called Nyalam by Land Cruiser. Overnight
stay at Nyalam Guest House
Day 02 NYALAM FULL DAY ACCLIMATIZATION:
Full day free for excursion of Nyalam city. Overnight at
Guesthouse.
Day 03 DRIVE TO SAGA (280km)6hrs (4640m).
Overnight at Guesthouse,(we arrange the hotel)
Day 04 DRIVE TO PARYANG
After early breakfast,proceed for Prayang (200 km. / 6 -7
hrs). Drive through the windswept territory passing many
villages Himalayas peaks and camps of Yak herders,On this
day the road is quite flat, hence the drive will be
comfortable compared to other days. Overnight at Guesthouse.
Day 05 DRIVE TO MANASAROVAR LAKE
After breakfast, drive to Mayum River for 112 km and have
lunch. Thereafter drive to Hor Quo (4560 m) 223 km/ 5 - 6
hrs. We continue driving crossing Mayum La pass (5200 m) and
arrive at Hor Quo. Today is the day of lifetime, as we will
have the first sight (darshan) of Holy Mt. Kailash and Holy
Lake Manasarovar. Camp on the bank of Holy Mansarover Lake.
Day 06 DRIVE TO DARCHENG
This is our Kora Starting point from here our 3 days treks
begins. The free day we visit, drive approx. 13 Kms. to
Tarboche, the trek starting point of Kailash Parikrama.
Tarboche is also known as the outer "Asthapath". The first
day of our Kora is a gradual walk with multitudes of other
local pilgrims chanting and praying.
Day 07 START TREK TO DERA PHUK MONASTERY 18km O/H

Day 09 TREK BACK TO DARCHENG AND DRIVE TO TIRTHA PURI

Day 10 DRIVE TO GUGE KINGDOM O/H Guesthouse
Day 11 GUGE KINGDOM EXCURSION
Day 12 DRIVE TO TIRTHA PURI O/H Guesthouse
Day 13 DRIVE TO GOSUL GOMPA O/H Camp
Day 14 DRIVE TO PARYANG O/H Guesthouse
Day 15 DRIVE TO SAGA O/H Guesthouse
Day 16 DRIVE TO NYALAM O/H Guesthouse
Day 17 DRIVE TO ZHANGMU AND EXIT TO NEPAL |
