GETTING THERE:
Tibet's only commercial airport is at Gonggor, 96Km from
Lhasa and is accessible from Chengdu, Beijing, Shanghaii,
Guanzhou, X'ian, Chouquin (Mainland China)
or from Kathmandu, /Nepal. Air China Airlines are the only
airlines that files to Lhasa from kahtmandu, Chengdu &
Beijing. There are regular flight
from Kathmandu -Nepal and Chengdu, Beijing from China. The route from Nepal to Lhasa by road (900kms)
takes at least four days with overnight stops in Nyalam,
Lhatse, Shigatse and Gyantse. |
CLIMATE:
Tibet's climate is extreme continental. This means that is
common for there to be extremes in temperatures between day
and night any time of the year. Lower temperatures, less
rain, thin air and strong sunshine also characterize in
Tibet. The average temperature ranges from 3-12 degrees
centigrade, The northern part of Tibet is covered for over
half of the year with ice and snow. Lhasa has the longest
yearly period of Sunshine and also called the Sunshine city.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
Altitude sickness is the effect of the thin air at great
heights. Travelers to Tibet may suffer some discomfort like
breathlessness and headaches before becoming acclimatized.
Many hotels keep bottled oxygen for emergencies. There are
tourist standard hotels with modern facilities as no frills
basic accommodation. The popular time of the year to visit
Tibet is May through October.. Lightweight clothes are
recommended during this season. Warm clothing is required
from November to April. |

To enter Tibet visa has to be obtain in Kathmandu for which
the minimum time taken in 03 working days. In such case we
must be in prior receipt of details of passport no. date of
Birth, name, Nationality, PP validity and occupation along
with Advance payment. |

Season to go to Tibet:
Mid July though to the end of September
is the best period to to to Tibet. But from Nepal, traveles
start quite from first week of April and continue fill the end
of November. Thereafter, passes become difficult.
Health:
There is no need to be overly worried
about altitude sickness or other risks to health. Very few
travelers are reported to be defected by altitude for long. Some
travelers who fly or go overland to Lhasa are likely to
experience some symptoms of altitude sickness but in most cases,
they are mild and recedes after a couple of days of ret in Lhasa.
However, all visitors to Tibet should have knowledge about
altitude sickness. Its course, prevention and remedies.
Prevention and remedies. Person with heart and lung problems or
blood diseases should consult the doctor before boiling the
trip. Simple headaches, fever , loss of appetite or stomach
disorder can occur before acclimatization. More slowly, breathe
deeply and a take more ret than usual. Do not strain yourself.
Other health hazards are like sunburn, cold, motion sickness,
giardiasis, diarrhea, dysentery etc. Your travel insurance
should be valid in China and cover all Expenses incurred due to
health hazards.
Customs: The custom formalities and regulations are more
or less normal to those of other countries. It is illegal to
import any printed material, film, tapes etc that are
detrimental to China's politics, economy, culture and ethics. |
Passport: A traveler should bear a passport with
validity remaining no less than six months. Make sure that
it has plenty of blank pages for visas, entry and re-entry
stamps and extensions. Besides, holding other IDs like
student card or driving license will be an advantage.
Loosing passport in Tibet is very bad, as you have to go to
Beijing to get new one.
Visa / Travel Permit: You require Chinese visa plus
Tibet travel permit. There are 2 kinds of Chinese visa.
Individual Visa: In principle, this kind of visa is
meant for travelers to main land of China. But as long as
you have Tibet Travel Permit, Individual visa is good enough
to travel to Tibet.
Individuals Client who want a flexible or independent kind
of trip or private trip are recommended to have Individual
visa. Who can obtain Chinese Visa from Chinese Embassies in
Nepal. we process travel permit through our Tibetan counter
part in Lhasa.
Group Visa: Travelrs who want to go to Tibet are
asked to have Group Visa., which is issued to a group of
minimum 2 to above pax through an agent. We have set fixed
group departures every Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday
depending on the flight schedules of Air China. You can join
in one of the group. People who want a flexible or independent kind of trip or
private trip are recommended to have Individual visa.
Visa Cost:

US$ 128.00 for USA Nationality.
Money: The Chinese currency is known as RMB meaning
people's money. The basis unit of this currency is called "YUAN"

21 days before commencement US$ 100.00 Per Person
20-10 Days 35% of the tour cost.
09-07 Days 60% if the tour cost.
Less then 06 days no refund on the tour cost. |
NOTE:
The Tibet Tourism Bureau has made a new regulation effective
from 1998 that a minimum of 05 participants are required for
Tibet Tours. If less than 05 pax. Schedule to operate will
have to join on group joining basis.
