 LEH, LADHAK AND ZANSKAR: (INDIA)

The high remote Tibet like regions of Ladakh & Zanskar are arid as they lie north of the main Himalaya range and are thus protected from the monsoon.
From Kathamndu you will fly Delhi then to Leh, capital of Ladakh and spend time becoming a acclimatized and taking in the sights of this amazing region with its ancient monasteries and palaces. You then travel by road into Zanskar, one of the wildest and most remote part of the Himalayas. This is where that rarest of creatures, the snow leopard, is still sometimes have seen, you'll spend some days exploring Padum, capital of Zanskar, before heading up to the famed Khardung la pass at 5578m the highest motor able road in the world. you then head back to Leh for the return flight to Delhi. Domestic mountain scenery in this west-east section of the massive Tibetan plateau, ancient Buddhist cultures and some mild yet rewarding walking are the highlight of this trip.

Suggested Itinerary:

Spiti Treks-Leh, Ladakh and Zanskar:
Day 01

Arrival in Delhi, on arrival meet and transfer to Hotel. Stay overnight at Hotel.

Day 02

Train to Chandigarh, jeep to Pinjore, on arrival check in at Hotel. Stay overnight at Hotel.

Day 03

Jeep to Manali, on arrival check in at Hotel. Stay overnight at Hotel.

Day 04

Day at leisure in Manali. Stay overnight at Hotel.

Day 05

Travel by jeep over 3978 metre Rohtang pass, gateway to Lahaul, to camp at Chotta Dara.

Day 06

Continue by jeep over 4358 metre Kunzam La into the Spiti valley and the village of Kiato.

Day 07

Trek from Kiato to the grazing pastures above the village.

Day 08 Takling La base camp.
Day 09 Day free for acclimatization.
Day 10 Over Takling La (5272 metres) to Lhasalna.
Day 11

Continue down valley to the Pare Chu (river), cross it and camp at Tarang Yogma.

Day 12 Extra day to explore the remarkable valley of the Pare Chu.
Day 13 Follow the Pare Chu upstream to Kharsa Gongma, near the base of Parang La.
Day 14

Make an early start to go up the Parang glacier and cross the 5577 metre Parang La to Pangrochen. Only a small spring sustains life at this high, rocky campsite.

Day 15

Descend to the gorge of the Parilungbi (river), then ascend to a lovely grazing meadow.

Day 16

Finish the trek with a short walk out to the village of Kibber, famed as the world's highest village with electricity and daily bus service.

Day 17

Continue by jeep to Tabo Gompa, one of the greatest artistic treasures in the Himalayan region, to view its paintings and sculptures, some of which are over 1000 years old. We then cross into the district of Kinnaur, and camp at the village of Nako. Nako is also known for its ancient gompa, though it has been badly damaged in recent years.

Day 18

Travel by jeep deeper into the Kinnaur area and camp at its former capitol of Kalpa.

Day 19 Continue by jeep to Shimla, the former summer capitol of India.
Day 20

After a full day in Shimla, we take the evening train to Kalka, then a jeep to Pinjore, where we return to our Palace Hotel.

Day 21

A short jeep ride to Chandigarh, then the Express train to Delhi, on arrival check in at Hotel. Stay overnight at Hotel.

Day 22 Depart-Delhi Transfer to airport for flight to onwards journey.

TOUR PACKAGE INCLUDES:

Accommodation on twin sharing basis as per Tour category (standard/Deluxe), full board meals, Ground transfers. Sightseeing as per Itinerary with English speaking guide, Entrance fees and permits.

On Treks Camping Equipment consisting of Two men-tent & mattress, Freshly cooked meals, Dinning & Toilet tents, Ponies and trek staffs. A minimum of 2 person is required for obtaining permit to trek.

ADDITIONAL COST:
Air fare, Expenses of personal nature, Travel Insurance and re-entry visa.

GETTING THERE:
Fly from Kathmandu to Delhi and Overnight at 1 Night at Delhi hotel and next morning flight to Leh. The other option would be to arrive by train from New Delhi to Pathankot and drive to Leh.

BEST SEASON:
May, June, July, August and September
CLOTHING:
During Night heavy woolen sweeter or down jackets. In day light jackets and  & rain gears.

ENTRY FORMALITIES:
All foreigners intending to visit Leh has to avail of an Indian visa which can be obtained at any Indian Embassy or Mission abroad. and trekking permit is necessary which is also a must can be obtained Delhi or Leh.
