The Janakpurdham, an important tourist destinationof Terai plain, is located in the Dhanusha district of Janakpur within the Central Development Region. The idols of Ram and Sita are circulated around the town at the head of a procession in the Vivaha Panchami. Hundreds of thousands of pilgrimage from around Nepal and India participate in these processions and festivals every years. RELIGIOUS HERITAGES OF JANAKPURDHAM:
Janakpur is a district rich in terms of cultural and religious heritages. The district used to be the capotal of the Mithila Kingdom in the ancient time and was the birth place of Mother Sita, the ideal woman for the Hindus. The region is also famous as the historic place of marriage between Lord Ram and Sita. Ancient artistic tradition related to Lord Ram and Mother Sita can be observed in plenty in Janakpur along with paintings of their marriage. The town that used to be a land of gods in the olden time is currently viewed as a living museum. Every corners of the town host a temple of one or other diety thus imparting Janakpur's identity as a holy city. Janaki temple is the largest and most important holy site of Janakpur while Ram temple. Vivaha Mandap, Sankatmochan temple. Ratna Sagar temple, Dulaha temple and Mahadve temple are other famous temple of Janakpur. Janakpur is also characterized by the presence of numerous ponds that are considered sacred. There used to be 72 different ponds in Janakpur in the time of King Jank in the ancient time. but most of the dried up or were encroached due to unmanaged urbanization.

Janaki Temple JANAKI TEMPLE:
Janakpu's main attraction, the Janaki temple, a temple dedicated to Mother Sita, is located at the centre of Janakpur. An architectural style resembling that of the Mughal places of India is used in the construction of the temple adorned with lovely artistery. The temple is also known as the Naulakh temple or Nine Hundred Thousands temple as nine hundred thousand rupees was spent in the construction of the temple. The temple sanctum houses idol of Lord Ram and Mother Sita as well as other related deities. Major festivals are hosted at the temp;le on Ramnawami, Vivah Panchami, Chhat, Holi and other festivals. Devotees numbering in hundred of thousands throung at the temple to participate in the festivals. Situated adjacent to the Janaki Mandir are the Vivah Mandap, Ram temple, Laxaman temple and Dharmashala. It takes 10 minutes on a rickshaw to reach the temple from Janakpur Buspark or Ramananda Chowk.

Ratna Sagar Temple RATNA SAGAR TEMPLE:
The Ratna Sagar Temple can be reached by walking for about 10 minutes from Ramanada Chowk. The temple is also dedicated to Lord Ram and Mother Sita and houses the idols of the deities. Temple is quite tall and is surrounded by a pretty garden. The sacred pond called Ratna Sagar is located near the temple and is consitered one of the most sacred ponds of Janakpur.

SANKATMOCHAN TEMPLE:
Sankat Mochan Temple Janakpur The Sankatmochan Temple that is beleived to relieve the devotees from any trouble is famous not only in Janakpur but also in the surrounding districts. The temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman, the Monkey God. It is traditionally believed that worshipping at the temple will reieve from all the troubles and will fulfil any wish. Large number of worshippers gathers at the temple every Saturday and Tuesday and also on other Hindu festivals. People from far away places also arrive at the temple to offer worship. The temple is situated at a distance of 10 minutes walk from the Janaki Temple.

Dulaha Dulahi Temple Janakpur DULAHA DULAHI TEMPLE:
The temple is called Dulaha-Dulahi Temple because of the idols of the deities in the fuise of bride-groom. The temple is situated at the Ramanada Chowk. The idols surrounded in a glass box are really attractive. The deities housed in the temple are Lord Ram and Mother Sita.





JANAKPUR RAM MANDIR:
Ram Mandir Janakpur The Ram Mandir is located in between the Janaki Temple and the holy Dhanush Sagar. The temple dedicated to Lord Ram is one of the famous temples of Janakpur. Huge fairs are hosted here on Ram Nawami, Vivah Panchami and Chharth festival. Themple sanctum bouses holds of Lord Ram and Mother Sita.





DHANUSA DHAM:
Dhanusa Dham Temple Janakpur Legend history of Dhanusha Dham is religiously important temple holds way back in time located at nearly 20 km away from the main Janaki temple in Janakpur. The origin of Dhanusadham can be traced in the Satya Yuga. In, the holy books like Ramayana and Bishnupurana, the credit of origin is indirectly given to Lord Rama.
