 :: kunming - Lhasa -Everest Base Camp Tour:

Kunming, the city of eternal spring, is the capital of Yunan province, It has many places worth visiting, such as the Green Lake, the old city wall, and the stone forest, a landscape of towering needle like limestone rocks. We can also go to Dali, the cradle of the Chinese and Tibetan cultures to Lijiang, Gyelthang, Dechen, where yunnan and Tibet meet to Tsakhalo, Markham where the roads to Sichuan and Central Tibet diverge and to Drayad and arrive in Chamdo, where we take the northern route up to Nagchu and Lhasa either via Basum Tso Lake to Lhasa. The best time for the trip is from early May through July & Sep, Oct.

Suggested Tour Itinerary:

Day 01 Kunming Arrival
Arrive in Kunming airport, met and transferred to the hotel.
Day 02: Kunming
In the monring excursion to Jiaoye Park for Hump-flight Monument, then proceed to Western Hills for Yunan-Burma Road. After lunch take the chairlift to Dragon Grotto and Huating Temple.
Day 03: Kunming-Lijiang by air
In the morning transfer to the airport for flight to Lijiang,Then coach to Jade Dragon Snow Mountains via the site of Flying Tiger's airport on the way, proceed to Yuhu village for Former Residence of American Explorer Joseph Rock. After lunch visit Shuhe Old Town which was a important dak on Southern Silk Road in ancient time.
Day 04: Lijiang
In the morning excursion to Tiger Leaping Gorge via the First Bend of Yangtze River; After lunch back to Lijiang for Ancient Town and Tribe Leader Mu's Palace.
Day 05: Lijiang to Deqin
The drive to Deqin is simply the best way to view the great variety of landscape in the Great Rivers region. Descending to the Yangtze Basin, we stop at Benzilan for lunch, after which we will continue ascending the scenic mountain range of Baima Snow Mountain Nature Reserve. The highest pass, at 4,296meters(14,090 ft), would stand as an altitude test for those visiting the Himalayan mountains for the first time. You need not worry; you will soon be relieved to find yourself arriving at Deqin, the gateway town to Tibet Dongzhulin Lamasery;
Day 06: Deqin / Yanjing
Departing Deqin, we travel along the north of Mekong River valley into Tibet. Along the way, we may be able to see the peaks of Kawagebo mountain range on a good day. Mt. Meili (6,740 m/22,113 ft), which straddles the border of Yunnan and Tibet, is the highest peak in the province. Once into Tibet, our first stop will be in the town of Yanjing, which was once the main source of salt for half of the Kham Tibetan area, which ranged from northwestern Sichuan down into Yunnan. We will visit to the salt fields and visit the only one Catholic Church in Tibet. followed by a stop at the hot springs, where each of us could pick our own natural hot bath
overlooking the Mekong. Certainly the best way to relax our body for the adventure ahead!
Day 07: Yanjing to Zuogong
We cross two high passes in this section of the drive, one at around 3,900 m(12,795 ft), the other at 5,008 m(16,430 ft). Driving past local Tibetan houses scattered round the feet of snow-capped peaks, the expressions on innocent Tibetan girls would make you realize that you are one of the first foreign visitors to this isolated region.
Day 08: Zugong to Ranwu
We will drive along the deep valleys of the Nu River (the Salween River), which is a long and tough journey, but our destination, the Ranwu Lake, a spectacularly crystal blue lake cupped by snow peaks.
Day 09: Rawok(Ranwu) to Bomi(Tramog)
We will wander along the Poto-chu Valley at Tramog (2,743 m/8999 ft), located deep in the thickly forested gorge of Parlung Tsangpo with glacial waterfalls streaming from the mountainsides. We will go down several hundred meters in altitude as we reach the lowland jungle settlement of Tang-me where the Tsangpo and Parlung Tsangpo rivers meet.
Day 10: Tang-me (Bomi) to Bayi
Waking up to the birds' singing, you will have an unobstructed view of the majestic NamJiabawa peak. After a long 9 hours drive, we will arrive in Bayi, the largest Tibetan town we will have reached at this point.
Day 11: Bayi to Lhasa
First we will drive 30 kms to visit the Lamaling monastery which an important monastery in Ningchi. And then drive to Basumtso lake. The crystal clear water of the Basong Lake will seem like an oasis to you -- another place you would be reluctant to leave. Drive to Lhasa.
Day 12: Lhasa Sightseeing

You will have a full day tour in Lhasa. The highlight today is the Magnificent Potala, the winter palace of the Dalai Lama; the place where the former great Dalai Lama's stupas are being kept; once the seat of the Tibetan government. With a history of over 1,300 years, the Potala Palace is the treasure of Tibetan religion and culture, storing plenty of figures of the Buddha, murals, sutras etc. After visiting Potala Palace, you will visit one of the three largest monasteries of Gelugpa, the Sera Monastery, and Dalai Lama's summer palace of, the treasure Park of Tibet, the Norbulingka. After the day's sightseeing, you will be offered an insight into the daily life of the Tibetan people, you may also be served tea in their home. O/N in Lhasa.

Day 13: Lhasa Sightseeing

In the morning, you will visit the No. 1 Monastery of Gelugpa, Drepung Monastery, which is the richest monastery ever in Tibet, and is still active today. Then you will be guided to visit the spiritual center of Tibet, the Jokhang Temple, where you might meet many pilgrims, who even prostrate by full length to the threshold of the temple. You will visit the sacred pilgrim path, the oldest street in Lhasa, the Barkhor Street, which is the place where Tibetan culture, economy, religion and arts assemble. In the afternoon, you can pay a visit to the Tibetan Traditional Hospital, where you will see how the Tibetan doctors treat patients in their traditional ways, and in its library, you will find massive medical sutras and medical thangkas. The Lhasa Carpet Factory is also a place you should not miss. The carpets there are all hand-made on old-styled vertical looms in traditional processes. O/N in Lhasa.

Day 14: Lhasa - Gyantse

In the morning, your guide and driver will accompany you to Gyangtse, a town lying to the south of Lhasa city. On the way there, you will visit one of the holiest lakes in Tibet, a pilgrimage site, the Yamdrok Yumtso Lake, which is compared as 'the fairyland in heaven' by Tibetans. Upon arrival in Gyantse, check in to hotel and rest. O/N in Gyantse.

Day 15: Gyantse / Shigatse

AM: visit a special Monastery, the Palkhor Monastery, the only monastery that houses monks from different orders (Gelugpa, Sakyapa and Kahdampa) in harmony. Palkhor also features its Bodhi stupa, or Kumbum, which consists of hundreds of chapels in layers, housing about a hundred thousand images of Buddha, so it is called Myriad Buddha's Stupa as well and You will take jeep today to the second largest city of Tibet, Shigatse. You will visit the seat of Panchen Lama, the Tashilunpo Monastery. Each year, there is a display of a gigantic thangkas of Buddha will on its Thangka Wall. Beside the trove of thangkas, its murals and other religious and artistic treasures certainly will impose an indelible impression upon visitors. You will also pay a visit to the New Palace of Panchen. Stay overnight in the best hotel there. O/N in Shigatse.

Day 16: Shigatse - Rumbuk Monastery
Day 17: Tibet Everest Base Camp Explore
Day 18: Tingri - Zhangmu
Day 19: Zhangmu - Kathmandu
