Gochela Trek

SIKKIM, a small Himalayan State lying between 27 to 28 degrees North latitude and 88 to 89 degrees East longitude is the second smallest state in India. It is barely 7,096 sq km in size yet has an elevation ranging from 300 m to 8585 m above sea level. It's Geography is dominated by the most majestic mountain chain in the world which includes the Khangchendzonga,
 
Suggested Itinerary:
Day 01
 
Pick Up From Bagdura / Bhadrapur Airport Transfer to Gantok Overnight at Hotel.
Day 02
 
Visit do drul Chorten, Institute of Tibetology, Rumtrek Monastery & Handicraft Center.
 
Day 03
 
Picturesque drives to Yuksom (1,780m.) through the beautiful villages and hills- meet our trekking crew and overnight in Camp.
 
Day 04 Yuksom -- Tsokha
Trek begins here. This trek takes you through dense verdant Semi Tropical forest occassionaly crossed by Crystal clear rivulets and cascading water falls up to Praig Chu. After lunch a steep climb for an hour brings you to Tsokha - a small Tibetian hamlet from where the first glimpse of the mountains can be seen. O/N at trekkers huts/tents. Approx. Alt. 3050m & Distance 16kms/6 hours
 
Day 05 Tsokha -- Dzongri
A gradual up hill walk along a well-marked track leads you through fascinating rhododendron forests running riot with colours. Further up hill from Phedang, Dzongri commands a panoramic view of snow capped mountain peaks. O/N at trekker’s huts/ tents. Alt. 4030m & Dist. 9 kms/ 4 hrs
 
Day 06 Dzongri
A full day will be spent at Dzongri. Venture out in the cool environment where one can relax. On a clear day one can see the fantastic view of mountain peaks including that of Kanchanjungha and Pandim. O/N at trekker’s huts/ tents.
 
Day 07 Dzongri – Thangsing
Trek from Dzongri across a distance of approximately 7 ½ kms leads through meadows and valleys down the burrows leads into the most beautiful valley of all; Thangsing, situated with forests and rivulets which is surrounded on all sides by massive mountains. O/N at trekker’s huts/ tents. Alt. 3940 & Dist. 8 Kms/ 3 hours
 
Day 08 Thangsing -- Samithi
From Thangsing trek goes past the onlathang valley, past several lakes and each step more closer to Kanchenjunga. Overnight at Samithi Lake. O/N at trekker’s huts/ tents. Alt. 4500m & Dist. 3kms/ 1 ½ hrs
 
Day 09 Samithi – Goechla and return to Thangshing
Optional; is the trek from Samithi to Goechala which is the highest point of the trek- Alt. 5000 m (5 kms/ 2 hrs). The Kanchanjunga appears right in front from here. Return trek to Thangsing.
 
Day 10 Thangsing – Tsokha
Return trek from Thangsing to Tsokha.It is mostly downhill today and you are now fit to cover the distance of the previous two nights. Distance 17 kms/ 6 ½ hrs. O/N at trekker’s huts/ tents.
 
Day 11 Tsokha –Yuksom
Return trek to Yuksom. O/N at trekkers huts/tents.
 
Day 12 Yuksom – Gangtok/ Pemayangtse/ Darjeeling
Day 13

Gangtok -Departure
