Winner 2004 Langtang Trek
Diarrhoeas" in Himalaya
No idea, I woke up at 5 A.M., cos I thought, that we will drive
to the Busstation at 6 A.M., where then our bus will start from
Kathmandu to Syabrubensi (Langtang-Mountains). Our bus will
start at 8:30, I woke up a little bit to early. Our team are
Dani (Brazil), Bindu (Mexico), Narween (Australia), Thomas
(Norway), Mateja (Slovenia), she is waiting in Syabrubensi for
us and me from Germany. Dani woke up with the feeling that she
had no fun to walk. Yeah, yeah, she is so lazy or she is one of
our three Hatha-Yoga-Princess-Teachers, like Narween and Bindu,
too. (Sorry darling, I am kidding.) But all of them have a se!
xy butt. No kidding.
(If you want to see us all, look to the Website
www.fotolog.net/danirodriguez. Left side of the big
picture, there are different pictures and there is one picture,
where we are sitting in the car. You can klick there and then
the picture will go to the middle and become bigger. So in the
front left is Narween and right is Bindu, she took this picture.
In the back right is Dani, in the middle Mateja and me with the
cool sunglasses.)
I was a little bit sad, cos first I met Dani in the hotel and we
are well-connected. Cry. Nevermind. Let s go. After a long hard
bus drive (I was sleeping most of the time), we arrived Dhunche
and got off. We were in the wrong place, but nobody knew this,
including myself. Of course we didn t find Mateja, but we found
a nice Lodge. You can sleep free, but you should eat there and a
little bit expensive.
Bindu has diarrhoea and stomache pain. I have diarrhoea for a l!
ong time, can live with this or not, sometimes it is really
dangerous, you know what I mean, but my fleas are away; my back
looked like a spoted face.
1. Trekking-Day: I don t know, how I can describe the
countryside. You can see my pictures, but this is only a simple
copy. I can try to describe in words, but this is nothing, you
must see it, cos the countryside is amazing and undescribable.
In the morning we all know, that we re in the wrong place,
nevermind, let s start. The girls and Thomas had a porter, who
takes the stuff. Me, I take my rucksack alone. After two hours
Trekking, Bindu felt so bad that she had to go back to Dhunche.
And four became three. After a long time we arrived at thulo
Syabru(1500m). We are completely down, I was on my border of
power, in the moment, I am really weak. The Lodge is simple, but
nice and you have a beautiful view. Thomas got diarrhea. Who
not???
2. Trekking-Day: Thomas will go back to India, so he
didn't t come with us and we are only two and our porter. the
hardest day started and I don t know,! how I did it. I stopped
smoking, it was not more possible for me and I was lucky, when
we arrived Lama Hotel(2400m). The way was so steep and it was
only uphill. Thanks to my friends shoes, on the first day I had
open wounds, it s hurt too much but step by step and it s not
allowed to forget my diarrhea. Think, that parasites and worms,
my amigos are eating with me. So my digestion is really fast and
liquid. In the Lama Hotel Narween and I were sitting by the
fire. I am quiet, cos I have no power to speak. My 10kg hard
rucksack is making me very slower as I am, but all the pain, all
the strain, all the cold weather, it becomes colder higher as
youwalk up, all the small living being in me, you forgot very
quickly, cos the mountains are so fantastic.
3. Trekking-Day: Today we went only three hours to
Ghoratabela(2850m). we walked inside a dreamforest, it looks so
elfish. I slept a lot and our small group are really nice.
narween made all the time exersises or Hatha-Yoga. ! I don t
know. I started a little bit, too. We were sitting by the fire
again, it is so terrible cold, I am frozen.
4. Trekking-Day: Narween and the porter went down today.
Narween got diarrhoea. Now we are the Diarrhoea-Team. I walked
up again. I want to go to the top, with my super-equipment;
summersneakers and summercloths. In Gumba(3400m) I met three
Israelis and we slept today there. If I ate my ricesoup with a
lot of garlic, what I have eaten the last days, a small boy came
to the Lodge, screaming and crying, cos he destroyed completely
his finger. His finger was so open and broken, I have never seen
so a open wound before. I ate my soup again, cos the Israelis
tried to help him. We gave money to his father, that why he goes
to the doctor. I am sure, he will loose his finger. After the
small shock we visited the old monastry and later a nice family
cooked really good food for us.
5. Trekking-Day: I started to go up with one
Israeli-Woman called Ayala, cos the Israeli-couple needed some
times of each other. Uhu. By the way to the top! point
Kyangjin(3850) I met Mateja. She didn t recognize me in the
first time, but later she was really happy to meet me and I told
her our Diarrhoea-Story. She went downhill with a Ami-Guy to the
lakes and I up. It is a dream to walk here, better as the
countryside of "lord of the rings" and everything is so amazing.
And... I was on 4000 Metre. I got it. But I felt really strange
like when I smoke grass, but more nicer, cos it is pure nature.
I was so happy and I wanted to go higher. For my luck, a small
snowstorm came and he said to me, I had to go down. I must say,
I am a little bit careless and I had a lot of luck, for example
I often slipped and nothing was happen and I don t see
everything so clear, but the mountains can become dangerous, at
4000 Metre you should be careful. Ah, tomorrow I will go to 4900
Metre high.
6. Trekking-Day: It is snowing and snowing. I saw my
first snow in this year. Fuck off. Nothing go on. Maybe it is my
luck, too. Hurra. My diarrhea i! s away and I can after 10 days
really good... We were sitting by the f ire, play cards, I wrote
some postcards and all the time relaxing. I was really hungry
and was eating the all day. Here one soup costs 140 Rs, in
Kathmandu 40 Rs. Never mind.
7. Trekking-Day: Today it was clear, but the snow was
always lying. so we went down. By the way a huge cloud came from
the button, so amazing and we had to walk inside. So cool. After
Lama Hotel in Rimiche we slept. Going downhill is so easy and
you are so quick. We stayed with a nice small family, who cooks
brilliant, had a nice view and it was so cosy here.
8. Trekking-Day: Today I went down alone, cos Ayala will
go to Thulo syabru. In Syabrubensi I caught the bus to Kathmandu.
For the beginning it was a dream and I will do it again.
But I like to come back to Kathmandu. I love this town, I love
my hotel, the Shambala Holiday Inn (in the near of Chhetrapati)
When I arrived at this hotel, I met Narween and Bindu again,
nice to meet all t! he people, who worked here, again. I was so
funny for the people, that we all came step by step back.
In the hotel you can relax really good, that what I will do the
next days. I feel really nice here, it s like home, cosy and
warm. The people are really nice and beautiful. Having a lot of
fun here and then I will go back to India.
Love Daniel, the winner of our Diarrhea-Team
