coastal paradise, encounter locals in their fishing
villages and tribal homes. Join then in bazars, and
on buses and boats, or even on pilgrimages in the
city o f temples. South India's spiritual
connection, mist-clad Nilgiri ranges, friendly
people and wild animal sanctuaries make this a
fabulous part of India to explore

Day 01/02: |
Kochi, Small islands
full of Portuguese and Dutch history, all connected
by wooden ferries, welcome you to Kochi. The oldest
church in India sits near mosques. synagogues and
English manor homes. Feast on delightful Keralan
food and enjoy a performance of Kathakali dancing. |

Day 03: |
Munnar, The old British
hill station of Munnar is surrounded by tea
plantations and offers old world charm and wonderful
views. |
|
Day 04/05: |
Periyar,
Further into the Western Ghats is the acclaimed
wildlife Sanctuary of Periyar. Set around a
magnificent lake, which attracts herds of wild
elephants, the park also sees sambar and spotted
deer. We take a boat onto the lake and enjoy a
guided nature walk to explore the area. |

Day 06: |
Kumarakom,
The sleepy little backwater of Kumarakom has chaged
little since the middle ages. |
|
Day 07: |
Kerala,
Converted rice boats take us through the Keralan
backwaters on a relaxing journey with a candlelit
dinner on board. These rice boats were originally
built 40 yrs ago and are constructed of anjali wood
and coir. This is a highlight of the trip |

Day 08: |
Allepay, This pleasant
market town, famous for its August snake boat
races. uses canals and roadways for transport, both
fringed by coconut trees. Staying in an ayurvedic
retreat. there's time for a bit of pampering. |

Day 09/10: |
Varkala, A temple town
know for its yoga and massage centers, Varkala means
just one thing for many visitors time on the beach. |
|
Day 11/12: |
Kochi,
Return to Kochi and head to the tip of the local
fort where it is possible to see the old
cantilevered fishing nets. common in Kerala.
Originally brought from China, these nets are called
Cheena vala in Mlayalam, and are used mainly at high
tide. Enjoy a great meal, watching the fishing fold
work as the sunset. |
